Michelle K Cable-Knit Sweater Mary Jane: It's All in the Details

Every time I look at these shoes, I notice a new detail. Here are my favorites:

1. Cable knit sweater fabric. Yes, it's made of wool and yes, I'd have to store them in the cedar chest filled with moth balls.
2. Silver studs--festive touch.
3. Gingham padded insole: you can still look cute with your shoes off...or something like that.
4. Buttons. I love buttons.                Price points:

Ugg Cove Bootie: BarkingDogShoes.com Christmas List Recommendation: Did I Beat Oprah to it?

I ordered my first pair of Uggs four years ago during the Christmas Ugg craze. If you recall, celebrities began wearing the tall furry ones with short skirts...and high school girls everywhere followed suit from Alaska to Florida no matter the weather.  My Uggs are and will remain my utilitarian Chicago snow/cold boot.

I would however like a pair of these Nordic-inspired Uggs as my dress-up pair. I'm eying the black ones.

Note that this model runs smaller than the traditional Ugg Classic, so order up a size if you want to wear them with thicker socks or are in between sizes.

Stay away from Uggs if you are prone to warm, sweaty feet; these will only make the problem worse ;-) $149.95 at Shoes.com.

Haflinger Anda Mary Jane : For Your Lazier Days

Everyone needs a pair of cozy shoes to scuff around in. Don't let anyone tell you that scuffing around is an activity to be confined to home only. I would even scuff  to the grocery store in these darling wool felt Mary Janes  from Haflinger. Where would you scuff to?

Back when I was first diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, I invested in two brands of shoes to keep my dogs from barking; Dansko and Haflinger. The cork footbed and arch support are similar to Birkenstock, but I prefer the more feminine styling of the Haflinger.

Sierra Trading Post has these cuties marked down from $108 to $49.95 in black and denim blue. I searched for the natural color featured at right, but have been unable to find them. If you do, let me know.
