Here's my foot again and it's still white as snow! This time I'm wearing a pair of super fabulous Tessa clogs. I discovered the Tessa company while googling "clogs" one evening and was hooked. I've always loved the look of Swedish wooden clogs, so I enjoyed clicking through their many fun and colorful choices from hand-painted to metallic to patent leather. Check out the pirate clogs!
Opting for a shoe that would go with everything, I decided on the open-toe high heel clog in brown leather. Usually I run between a 9.5-10 or Euro 40-41, so I'm glad I ordered the 41--didn't want heel overhang.
I can't wait for the first sign of warm weather to really show off my new Tessa's! The wooden platform sole is actually very comfortable; I wore them around the house most of the day because my 6 year old son thought I looked "cute" in them. Awww....

Earth shoes feature Kalso Negative Heel Technology TM which relieves pressure on your toes and ball of foot when walking. When my arthritis was at its worse in the little bones of my toes, I purchased a pair of Earth walking shoes. My daily walks went from one mile to three now that the pressure on my forefoot was relieved. The toe box is very generous, so if you have bunions, you'll find these heavenly.
I see that Earth has some more streamlined and stylish models for spring; here are a few of my favorites in the order they appear above:

Shortly after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 27 (12 years ago--you do the math), I began to wear custom orthotics due to structural changes in my feet. I had a tough time finding anything other than New Balance sneakers to accommodate my new orthotics. I tried taking out the flimsy inserts in my Aerosoles and Hush Puppies to try to make room for them, but I found my foot wouldn't fit properly into the shoes. There were few fashionable alternatives to the New Balance mainstay, so I put up with the pain of my regular shoes when I needed to dress up a bit. Brands like PW Minor were my only option and, well, "option" is a relative term. Eventually I elected to have surgery to fuse the bones in my forefoot and no longer need orthotics...but I've been there, believe me!
I had never heard of Kumfs of New Zealand back then and even if I had, I doubt they would have had the selection that they have now in 2008. The footbed is made of memory foam but is fully removable. I present to you four of their more stylish models that accommodate orthotic inserts:
Casual Dress: Kumfs Farah in red patent
Sporty "Skechers-like" sneaker: Kumfs Xtract in black floral
