Comfortable Power Heels: 6 Picks by Christina Binkley

My husband is the Wall Street Journal reader in our family, so he was quick to text me about a feature on comfortable "Power Heels" by Christina Binkley, fashion columnist. Ms. Binkley, in search of a comfortable three inch pump for the corporate woman, bought six pairs of shoes from dyed in the wool comfort brands that don't bust the budget like Naturalizer and Aerosoles, to high-end designs by Stuart Weitzman and Taryn Rose.

After wearing her new shoes all day at work and even through the airport and down concrete sidewalks, Ms. Binkley found that the Taryn Rose Daphne was able to carry her through two full days of work comfortably and fashionably. Here's a round-up of the shoes reviewed.

1. Taryn Rose Daphne: I wish I could afford this shoe. It's simply beautiful. Taryn Rose is a former orthopedic surgeon turned shoe designer. Using her knowledge of foot anatomy, combined with fashion sense and entrepreneurial spirit, she founded her own company. Here's an informative interview with Dr. Rose sponsored by Neiman Marcus.

2.  Stuart Weitzman Honor Roll: Certainly a stretch for MY barking dogs, yet Ms. Binkley appreciated the sturdy footbed and accommodating toe box of this glamorous pump.

3. Cole Haan Carma: Owned by Nike, Cole Haan utilizes the Nike Air technology for a cushioned footbed. With a four inch heel, I don't care how cushioned the footbed is; this shoe has the potential to create and irritate bunions. Ouch. Even Ms. Binkley complained of numb toes after wearing these for the day.

4. Naturalizer Sassy: At $80, this two inch Mary Jane pump comes in three widths and has picked up some rave reviews from Zappos customers.

5. Aerosoles Envy: One of few Aerosoles styles that comes in a B and C widths.

6. Ecco Basel T-Strap: Although comfortable, Ms. Binkley remarks that the rounded toe has more of a "girlish" look and would suit a more casual work environment.
