Oprah is a mere click away from discovering me, I just know it. The Clark's Somers is third on her list of 10 foot-friendly boots in the November issue of O magazine. And here it is on my feet! This is my first pair of ankle boots EVER, so I was a little unsure of how to wear them. After reading my friend Christina's post about pairing a sweater dress with ankle boots over at RealStyleRealPeople.com, I was inspired to try the look myself. I think I like it! But they'd also look great with pants and jeans. Now let's talk comfort...
The Clark's Somers is a darling boot with the asymmetrical collar and button detail, but how does it feel? So far, so good. The stacked 2 1/2" heel is just high enough for me--much higher and my knees start to hurt. The footbed is cushioned and the toe area is plenty roomy--best for the medium to slightly wide foot. What I really appreciate is the sole traction. Sometimes when I walk in a heel, I feel a bit "off my game" and my balance gets thrown off. Soon I'm careening on a slippery surface and...you know how that ends. The Clark's Somers rubber sole has awesome traction--I tried them out on our recently Murphy Oil Soap-ed wood floors and the boot stayed put. My only concern is the ankle area seems a little wide; my heel doesn't slip, but I'm wondering if it would after walking in the boot for a longer time?
I'm going to wear my new boots out on the town tomorrow night when we take our son out for getting a good report card, so I'll check back in and let you know how I held up in my new boots. Maybe I'll even run into Oprah...and then she'll see my boots...and then she'll invite me to the Favorite Things taping...and then she'll check out my blog...anyone watch 30 Rock last night?
