Well, I broke down and bought the Born Codder Mary Jane after seeing them on Vanessa's feet. Knowing the cherry red leather would only draw attention to my size 10 feet, I almost opted for black, but at the last minute decided otherwise. I'm glad I did. This is just the color to energize my gray-overload wardrobe (and goes so nicely with the red sumac in my backyard).
I'm going to recommend the Born Codder for anyone that has plantar fasciitis and is looking for a dressy-casual, comfortable shoe. This is not a flat--the heel is actually 1 3/4" inches adding a bit of lift. The shoe is well-made and sturdy with a cushioned footbed and moderate arch support. The adjustable buckle over the instep provides a customized fit and keeps the heel from slipping. I ordered the medium width and found it very generous in the toe box, but the Born Codder does come in wide widths also at Zappos.
Where to buy:
- Zappos offers medium and wide widths for $94, free shipping both ways.
- OnlineShoes.com also carries medium and wide widths, $94.95, free shipping and exchanges.
- Shoebuy carries sizes 5-12 in medium widths, $93.95; free shipping and returns.

Love these! They remind me of some Born mary janes I had several years but got rid of b/c they were getting dated looking. I may have to replace them with these! Cute and not too "comfort shoe" looking. Y'know, I'm kind of picturing them with some leopard print socks...

Kirsten, mine came via UPS today! And you tempted me to buy the Vinas, too, in the pretty brown. I've been looking for attractive brown flats everywhere. Now I feel almost complete...

HEY! There's nothing wrong with size 10 feet!!! I wear 9.5-10s most of the time and I have never been self-conscious. ;-)

Monica, you're right.I was thinking the sort clunky style PLUS red might be too much, but I love them.

ohh pretty- I am really into red lately- I have a similar pair from White Mountain.
oh and BTW, I know what you mean-me, fiscally conserative, but socially liberal-a hard mix!

My Born Codders arrived today - so cute! But (sigh) I think the vamp may be cut too low so it presses on my sensitive bunion. At least I bought them from ShoeBuy, with their excellent free-returns policy.

I have fibromyalgia, and also neuropathy in my feet.
