Well, I broke down and bought the Born Codder Mary Jane after seeing them on Vanessa's feet. Knowing the cherry red leather would only draw attention to my size 10 feet, I almost opted for black, but at the last minute decided otherwise. I'm glad I did. This is just the color to energize my gray-overload wardrobe (and goes so nicely with the red sumac in my backyard).
I'm going to recommend the Born Codder for anyone that has plantar fasciitis and is looking for a dressy-casual, comfortable shoe. This is not a flat--the heel is actually 1 3/4" inches adding a bit of lift. The shoe is well-made and sturdy with a cushioned footbed and moderate arch support. The adjustable buckle over the instep provides a customized fit and keeps the heel from slipping. I ordered the medium width and found it very generous in the toe box, but the Born Codder does come in wide widths also at Zappos.
