Got cute socks? How about wide feet? Fallen arches? Do you wear Keens? If you answered "yes" to two of the four questions, these comfortable shoes are for you. The Honey Locust mary jane is part of the Clark's Originals collection of UK origin. Every year a few styles from the Originals line hop the boat and cross the pond to the US. You'll know them when you see them. Their crepe soles and funky, retro vibe set them apart (way apart) from the rest of the polished Clark's line. You remember the Wallabee, right?
I've worn my Honey Locust mary janes around all weekend and I've got a good report to share with you:
- Comfy out of the box. No break in time necessary.
- Roomy toe box.
- Surprisingly supportive insole. Compared to my other Clark's Originals, these have decent arch support. In fact, the whole insole is removable and can accommodate a custom orthotic.
- Crepe outsole: provides extra cushion and absorbs shock. Very quiet shoe. You can sneak up on people in these.
- I can show off my colorful socks!
- Velcro instep strap is easy to fasten.
The Honey Locust runs wide--similar to many Keen styles. I have a medium width foot and found these a tad too wide for me. As for length, these run true to size.
