In memory of my beloved kitty Mike, I wear my "big cat" shoes.
I love my Pg Lite Alegrias more and more every time I wear them. I had some much needed mom-time last night and instead of getting a massage or a pedicure, I ate Taco Fresco in the car and visited my local Goodwill. This, to me, is a good time. But as anyone knows who shops thrift stores, it takes patience, determination and a pair of comfortable shoes. All that standing around on tiled floors can take its toll on the footsies. Since these Alegria shoes are in my top three for comfort, support and cuteness, they receive the indubitable honor of #1 thrift-store shopping shoes. And although I didn't find a darn thing, I did pick up quite a few compliments while perusing the racks.
For a complete review of fit and feel, read my review from last month. If you have a pair of Alegria shoes, would you be so kind as to leave a comment and let other readers know how they have worked out for you.
Where to buy Pg Lite Alegria:
- Pegasus Shoes--search on "Alegria." Paloma style $99
- Shoebuy: $109.95, but site often has 20% off promotions.
- HealthyFeetStore: $105
- PlanetShoes: $104

I just love the way these shoes look and the cushiony soles -- but they are oh so big for me. I think they work best with a wider foot. My fit has changed since I've had issues with flat feet and often wear custom orthotics (which these shoes will accommodate)but I usually fit in an 11B these days, up from a 10. These were just too big for me and the shoes were just stiff enough that they bothered my sensitive toes a bit too. Darn!

I bought a pair after seeing your earlier review. I like them so far, but I have a bit of a rub on the top of my foot/big toe. I hope that breaking them in a bit will make that go away.

Love the shoes and just had to comment that eating tacos fresco in the car and visiting Goodwill would count as a great time for me too!!

I bought a pair after your last review, and I'm trying to justify buying another pair. They are probably the widest shoes I own, but that means they don't bother my bunions and bunionettes! I bought a 38 for my size 7.5 feet, and I can wear them with socks if I want. I probably could get away with a size 37. I teach in heels, so these are a great shoe for office hours and weekends. Plus, I got them in red patent- I call them my orthopedic dorothy shoes!

i have this pair! and, well, about seven others. they are literally the most comfortable shoes i've ever put on. i call them my "marshmallow cloud" shoes and have turned dozens of people onto them!
the RA in my feet had gotten really horrible - but my alegrias make walking so much nicer. i'm super excited about the winter boots' debut in november.
when i was volunteering at the chicago marathon a couple weeks ago, i was standing on a table (don't ask) at the finish line wearing my plum mary janes. AT LEAST 10% of the runners stopped to tell me how much they loved my shoes (men and women, one fellow volunteer noted).
so, to sum up ... they're so comfy they're like walking on marshmallow clouds and so cute that about 1,000 people who had just run 26.2 miles noticed and complimented me.
alegrias for the win.
(i also buy a 38 for my 37.5 feet and can wear them with socks. the mary janes do NOT run bigger and a 37 would be too small - contrary to what some sites recommend.)

I don't have these, but I just wanted to say that I discovered your blog this weekend, and I think I love you. (My husband doesn't so much, since your blog will probably cause a significant increase in our shoe budget!)
I'm a stay-at-home momma with a laid-back seven-month-old son and a wild child two-and-a-half year old daughter, so comfort would be important to me no matter what. But I was also diagnosed with RA a little over a year ago, and I'd kind of given up on cute, comfy, non-croc shoes since then. (I do currently own more Crocs than my husband has shoes, which I think probably means that he doesn't own enough shoes. If you ever need a Croc review, I'm your girl. I have my new pairs - Lily in black/white plaid and Tilda in plum - or the pair I'm about to order - Olivias in either red or brown. Or both. And of course my two pairs of Mary Janes. And two pairs of Cleos. And one pair of Malindis. And one pair of Sassaris. Hi, my name is Shannon, and I'm a Crocaholic.)
So THANKS to turning me on to some RA-friendly shoes!!!

I have the same pair you have in the tattoo print. I love them! I like them especially because the wild print and shape make them look fairly young and playful, so even if they're clunky, they at least feel fun. They remind me a bit of those early '90s Doc Marten's that came in florals and other wild prints.
I've gotten several compliments on them, and they're so sturdy. I have a repaired left knee, and a couple of herniated discs in my back, and these shoes help my posture enough that it takes most of the pressure off my fragile parts.

I have also discovered your blog just last week....I can also have had RA for more than 35 years, so we can really talk about shoes! I haven't worn ANY kind of heels in more than 20 years. My most comfortable shoes right now are Mens' Merrell shearling-lined clogs, in XX...but the way you write about the Alegria, maybe I will give one a try.
Welcome to Motherhood, and condolences on the RA.
