Owning this shoe has crossed into the realm of possibility (skip to third paragraph to find out why and dismiss my rambling). The longer I hold out to buy a pair, the more obsessed I become with the El Naturalista Iggdrasil from Rioja, Spain. I've been on a Spain kick lately while planning my son's multicultural day at school. His classroom celebrated the country with a fabulous flamenco dancer, tapas and mock bullfighting! It brought back my love of Spanish language and culture and I began to wonder when I might get back into the teaching profession.
Back to the shoe. While the heel may look like a giant piece of turron candy, the Iggdrasil offers an anatomical insole designed to absorb shock and gorgeous vegetable-tanned leather uppers that come in an array of colors. Find out more about the fit and feel of the El Naturalista Iggdrasil by reading my review from April.

I have a pair of Iggdrasils, and while I like them, I don't love them. I do love the way they look--even the crazy sole, and I get compliments on them pretty regularly, but they are just too narrow for my wide feet. All El Naturalistas seem to be (I have a beautiful pair of sandals by them, too). Even after the soft leather stretched out a bit, my feet still feel sort of jammed in there. Too bad, because otherwise they are perfect.

I have a love/hate thing going on with El Naturalista. While I love everything about the company (unique styles, eco-friendly blah blah) I find the shoes to be a tricky fit. Perhaps my feet are just too wide, but every pair I've tried has been a little irritating to my pinky toes.
Fortunately for me, I live around the corner from the only EN store in the USA, and I buy samples for $25 a pair there. At that price, I'll keep trying until I find the perfect pair!

Just an FYI,
I found these clogs at Eastern Mountain Sports in Philadelphia for ....$19.99! I was thrilled until I had to return them bc it turns out I can't do backless shoes. They were very comfy though and the salesperson said they weren't going as quickly as they'd hoped so definitely check out your local store!
