The Solitaire comes from Dansko's newer Sausalito line. I've grown rather fond of most shoes and boots from this collection because they offer a refreshing change from their heavier-soled Dansko relative, the Professional. With a cushioned footbed and lightweight rocker sole, the Solitaire (and other shoes from the Sausalito collection), will win back those who find the Dansko insole too hard for their tender tootsies.
Now the Solitaire comes in a gorgeous new shade of leather. Turquoise! Although, from the photo above, it looks more teal to me.
From reading customer comments about the Solitaire, I've culled a short pros/cons list.
Pros: alleviates plantar fasciitis pain of the heel, roomy toe box, good arch support, "like walking on clouds," "cute in their own way," worth the price, all-day comfort, lighter than other clogs.
Cons: instep strap can be a little tight for high insteps, strap not completely adjustable yet elasticized, toe turns up slightly.
A word on sizing: shoes from the Sausalito line fit a bit more narrow than other Dansko styles. Order up if between sizes.
