Spaniards make good shoes. Last week I flaunted my El Naturalistas and today I present to you Pikolinos from Elche, Spain. Characterized by unique hand-crafted detailing, beautiful leathers and foot-friendly comfort technologies, Pikolinos come in a variety of styles from boots to dress pumps to casual sandals. Grace from Santa Cruz, CA has graciously allowed me the use of her photo featuring her Pikolinos and baby Luca. Doesn't she have a casual elegance about her?
Here's what she had to say about her Pikolinos (she's wearing an older style similar to the Bariloche slingback).
Pikolinos have been my shoe-of-choice for
casual situations where I really shouldn't be wearing my running
shoes/Uggs/Birkenstocks/flip flops. So far, I have three pairs -
starting with a zippy red classic loafer I wear with jeans; a pair of
black slingbacks, perfect with skirts; and brown cut-out flats. Of
these three, I wear the loafers the most frequently and after 5 years,
they have acquired a wonderful well-worn patina.
All of my Pikolinos have served me well as walking shoes, the slingbacks alone were comfortable after an afternoon's stroll around the British Museum. I love them as do my own barking dogs and we give the brand the highest of ratings and accolades.
Currently there's a great selection of Pikolinos on sale at 6pm.com including the Bariloche style above. Pikolinos brand is also available at Zappos, Planet Shoes, and Shoebuy. Here are a few of my favorite styles from Zappos:
