Adjustability is the name of the game here, as you can see!
These are Domenica's Wolky sandals and I stalked them out on Flickr...leave it to me. She had actually written a "Shoe Story" about them prior to me discovering the photo. Let me share the highlights of her recent trip to Astrid's Rabat Shoes & Accessories in San Francisco.
The very first shoes that caught my eye were these purple (of course...
PURPLE!!! My fave color these days, it seems...) ones that were sitting
on the floor in a row with all these other marked-down shoes—they were
reduced from $144 to $100. That was still a bit more than I had planned
to spend, but as soon as I put them on, I knew I was doomed to fork
over the cash. They were soooooo freakin' comfy!
They are made by a Dutch shoe manufacturer called Wolky that I had never heard of before. Their tagline is "Designed for Walking." And boy oh boy... were they ever! My grateful tootsies could feel the delicious comfort immediately. I was a bit aghast because they were definitely not the kind of shoes that I thought I would fall in love with while I was up there because they were so PRACTICAL!?!?! I think that my friend Robin was fairly amused because that's what I was audibly freaking out about the most. Well, other than the price. Could I really justify spending that much money on a pair of shoes???
"Well," I reasoned in my head, "they are 'on sale,' I am on vacation right now, and they're my favorite color too...!?!"
And of course, they felt like absolute HEAVEN on my feet!!!
Plus there were some cool features like the easily adjustable velcro
straps that also had these shiny parts that gave them a certain edge
and made them look not too pedestrian. Plus, the black rubber soles had
a really cool, embossed leafy pattern on them that would make a really
neat sidewalk statement whenever I strolled through a puddle.
And you know the end of the story as you see them on her feet. Score another fan for Wolky. I think Domenica's destined to be a comfy shoe blogger.
With a pitch-toe and rocker bottom, you'll find the Wolky Libre takes the pressure off your forefoot while walking. Features a supportive memory foam footbed and adjustable straps galore--perfect for those with wider forefoot and narrow heel.
The Wolky Libre is available for $149.95 from OnlineShoes.com. I must also take a moment to highly recommend the Wolky Cloggy as a closed-toe option: roomy toe box, arch support and adjustable straps make a great choice for problem feet.
