Comfortable Shoes: Dansko Sigrid Sandal
I love my parent's yard in West Virginia; full of nature, full of funny stories. See the birdhouse? Two years ago, I opened it and a flying squirrel jumped out at me as I ducked and screamed bloody murder. Are flying squirrels native to West Virginia? I didn't think so, but it sure wasn't the bluebird I was expecting. And what about that wasp's nest? It had been hanging from a branch about 20 feet off the ground since last fall. The bottom half fell to the ground a few days ago leaving the top half hanging stubbornly from the branch. My husband told my eight-year-old son that he'd give him a dollar if he could hit it down with a baseball. My son took him on and with the aim of young King David himself, knocked that sucker out of the tree and is now a dollar richer.
The little bouquet is an early Mother's Day gift of Johnny jump-ups picked by my son before heading off to a Mother-Daughter banquet with my mom. Since we live nine hours away, this was a particularly special occasion as we're often apart for Mother's Day. The next day we celebrated my dad's 70th birthday with a surprise party that my mom staged perfectly. Somehow 70 doesn't seem that old anymore...
What does any of this have to do with comfortable shoes? As I wore my Dansko Sigrid sandals around this weekend, I noticed a chain reaction: feet feel and look great=don't have to think about my feet=more time to focus on my folks, husband and kids=one happy mom.
