Hi Kirsten,
What shoes would you recommend that are flat, have removable footbed and a wide toe box? (And hopefully somewhat cute).
I've found that Naot has a line of shoes wide in the toe box with a removable footbed, but the heel is still a bit high. (Podiatrist's orders....my heel & ball of foot should match in height).
Thanks!
Hello kind reader,
I forgot to ask before sending the barking dog sniffing down the comfortable shoe trail, but I'm assuming you need the removable footbed for an orthotic. It's difficult to find a "flat" with enough room to accommodate a prescribed orthotic or store-bought insole. Hopefully one of these options will work for you!
1. Propet Robin: One of Propet's newest styles for spring, the Robin features a removable insole and washable leather! There's plenty of room for toes to spread out and the shoe comes in medium, wide and extra wide. $74.95 at Zappos, $53-76 at Amazon, $69.45 at Shoebuy.
2. Cobb Hill Elaine: A quality shoe for under $100 but may be too tight in the toe box? I list it because it does come in widths, has a removable cushioned insole and is made by a New Balance company. $33-85 at Amazon, $80 at Zappos, $79.95 at Shoebuy.
3. UC 24-7 Wilsie: Unique to The Walking Company, UC 24-7 footwear is built to accommodate orthotics; the contoured footbed is removable. Check out the whole UC 24-7 collection at The Walking Company (or try a pair on at one of their stores).
4. Taos Uncross: Be sure to watch the Zappos video featuring the Taos Uncross, it looks so much cuter on the foot! Taos makes a great shoe with soft leathers and removable footbeds. $135 at Zappos, $129.95-135 at Amazon.
5. Timberland Earthkeepers Barefoot Double-Strap MJ: I liked the color more than anything, but this flat does feature a removable insole. $100 at Zappos.
6. Orthaheel Arcadia: Although the footbed is removable, you may find you prefer it to stay put. Orthaheel provides excellent arch support, heel stability and alignment. $94.95 at Zappos.
