Spring's taking it's sweet time here in Chicagoland. As I write, we're expecting a foot of the white stuff tonight into tomorrow. People shoot daggers my way when I announce, "Bring it on," or, "Can't get enough snow!" And that just encourages me more. Watch out as I share the latest Winter Weather Advisory, isobar maps and anticipatory snow forecasts on Facebook. Unfriend me, go 'head.
However, I will admit that I look forward to wearing sandals again after an industrial-strength pedicure and these Tsubo Ovids are at the top of the list.
Long a fan of Tsubo's Asmik mary jane, I was happy to try the summertime counterpart, Ovid. I'm fairly certain that Tsubo did not intend to make a wedge with a "rocker sole," as they're just too slick to talk comfort shoe lingo, but that's what happened. So if you like the feeling of being propelled forward with minimal foot effort (like Dansko or Sanita professional clogs), the Tsubo Ovid won't admit it, but it does the same thing. My wonky feet love a good non-flexible rocker sole due to arthritis of the BIG TOE (all caps because he screams some days), and the Ovid keeps my forefoot from bending too much through the stride.
I can appreciate the Ovid's soft leather upper that covers the bunions without hugging the crud out of them. The latex foam footbed has a little extra poof at the heel and forefoot--much appreciated.
I'd recommend the Ovid for a slightly narrow to medium width foot. I wear between a 9.5 and 10 and found the 10 in the Ovid to fit best.
The Tsubo Ovid features a 2.5" wedge heel with a one inch platform. It comes in black, putty, infinity (navy), natural (light carmel brown); sizes 5-11.
