Vionic Tide Sequins Review

vionic tide sequins 2
I remember visiting friends in Little Rock, Arkansas last summer and noticing many women in sparkly flip-flops. Tweens, teens, their moms and grandmas–everyone had sparkly flips. I thought, “Is this a thing in the south?” Had I become callous to glitter in my sensible midwest surroundings? Was I growing too old for such frivolity? Perhaps. But when I saw these sparkly sandals by Vionic at the local comfort shoe store, I kicked off my humdrum Birkenstocks and ordered up a pair of silver sequined Vionic flip-flops in size 10. While I waited for the spunky sales associate to return, I contemplated the placement of the Vionic display–not prominent, off to the side, high on a shelf. Maybe they’re not  as great as I’ve read about online? When my shoes arrived out from behind the curtain and only slightly faster than Zappos, I noticed my enthusiastic associate brought me a 9 and a 10 since the Vionic Tide
Sequins comes in whole sizes only. I told her that I didn’t need the 9, that I’m a 9.5-10, she encouraged me to try the 9 first because they run large. She was right. I bought them. The display should be front and center.

The size 9 fits my 9.5-10 size foot perfectly with no unsightly heel or toe overhang. The arch support takes a little time to get used to.   The footbed is like an orthotic, cradling the heel, pushing the arches and ankles back into normal alignment giving a therapeutic feel to the sandal. My arches have lowered due to the effects of living with RA for 17 years, but the Vionic Tide Sequins lifts them right back up. The EVA midsole absorbs shock and provides cushioning.  My feet, ankles, knees AND lower back feel good when I’m wearing my Vionics.

The toe post was my only concern. It felt stiff at first between my toes and caused some uncomfortable rubbing. But after wearing them for a week, the toe post softened and now I don’t even notice it.

I don’t consider myself glamorous, but I’ve had fun seeing these sparkly flips on my feet this summer. I wear them to the pool, out on errands and even to church.

I hear they’re wonderful for plantar fasciitis, but thankfully that’s not one of my top foot issues. How about you? Do you wear Vionics to help alleviate pain from PF? Leave a comment and let us know!

The Vionic Tide Sequins is available at Zappos, Amazon, and Nordstrom.

Thanks for the info on the sizing. Like you, I’m a 9.5 – 10 and now I know the 9 will work.

I have worn these for PF for several years now. They are wonderful!!! Just purchased a new pair of the Tide Sequin in silver. Love them! Would highly recommend for anyone with PF,

I have been wearing Vionic sandals (formerly Orthaheel) for the past three years and love them. I don’t have the Tide but have purchased similar styles. It’s the only sandal I can wear without my orthotics (high arches). There are other styles and some fit better than others. I’m usually a 7 1/2 and the 7 fits just fine.

I’m wearing a pair of sandals that I bought before they changed the name to Vionic. They were “just,” orthaheel. In reading current reviews on several sites, I’m curious about the complaints that the new sandals don’t hold a candle to the originals. I sort of want to try the Tide model, but am a bit reluctant. It helps that I need another pair of sandals like I need a hole in my head…..

I have PF and high arches and these are Heaven for my feet!

I have a pair of the Tide II in black and I LOVE them! I can’t wait to get home from work and slip them on at the end of a long day. Really wish I could wear them all day, every day. I tend to even prefer them over my Birkenstocks because my feet don’t get as tired after wearing them for long periods of time. For anyone who is wondering, I have flat feet, bunions and PF and these sandals are wonderful.

  7. Kim says:

Think I have PF from going barefoot so much for the last few months. Does anyone know of a Vionic sandal that’s a slide in instead of a thong? I’d like to be able to wear socks if needed. Thanks!

  8. Theresa says:

I have PF and these are Heaven for my feet. I also usually wear a 9.5-10 and the 9 fits great.

  9. Theresa says:

I have an old pair of Tides from when they were just Orthaheel, and a new pair and I personally don’t see much difference in the quality. I wear my old pair as slippers in the house due to not being able to go barefoot due to PF.

  10. Theresa says:

I think they have a few with both back straps and slides. Check on Zappos.

  11. cedar says:

    Thank you.

  12. Ronda says:

I don’t have PF, but I do have Hallux limitus and flip flops are a no-no for me. However, the vionic Julia work great for me. These are so cute and they are on sale now!! It’ll be summer in California for months to come. http://www.6pm.com/vionic-with-orthaheel-technology-julie-ii-black-gold

  13. Diann Wellman says:

I have a pair of the Orthaheel as well as a pair of the Vionic sequined ones. I don’t really see a difference in the feel of them. I have PF and HATE real shoes. I wear these at home year round and as long as there is not snow on the ground, I’m wearing them. I LOVE them! Just as a side note, they also sell them on QVC on Easy Pay once in awhile, which makes them much easier to purchase if you’re tight on money but still want some quality footwear.

  14. Robin says:

    So glad to
Know orthography was just renamed .. My favorite sandals !!

  15. Nancy Hoerman says:

I love these shoes. I now have four pairs. I have RA and my feet hurt all the time. I have no pain in these shoes.

  16. Andrea Clark says:

I noticed the Tide II last week and was excited to try them out after having great success with Orthaheel slippers. I’ve worn them a lot including an all day shopping trip and had no issues with my PF.

  17. Pat says:

I had my foot reconstructed for a bunion and hammertoe, so I now have a toe with a screw and screws in my foot. I took a chance on Tide, not being able to wear a thong sandal before and they were a dream come true! True comfort all summer right into fall. I bought a second pair and branched out into other Vionic shoes as well. These are probably the best sandals I’ve ever worn, including Birkenstocks. Love ’em!

  18. Beth says:

I have worn orthaheel/vionic for years because of PF. Just bought the tide with sequins in black I love them!
