Romika Shoes and Citytex Footwear: Waterproof, Supportive, Orthotic-Friendly

Romika Shoes could have come to my rescue last winter – it literally scared my boots off. When the difference in daytime highs between Earth and Mars is eerily close, you know something’s just not right–call it polar vortex or RefrigerNation, it’s sci-fi weather and it plain freaks me out. We’ve had a string of impressively beautiful 70 degree days this week, but as dusk comes earlier each night and the evening temps drop into the 40s, I realize fall can’t stay but for a few weeks more.

Are your feet winter-ready? Do you sidewalk commute through November slush and December snow and ice? Have you been looking for a waterproof shoe or boot that doesn’t look like your father’s galoshes or daughter’s rainboots? Do you have problem feet that need support or a removable footbed to accommodate an orthotic? Enter Romika Citytex footwear.

Romika Shoes

Romika footwear is European-made from high-quality materials and each shoe is chock-full of comfort technologies. Take for example the top ankle boot in the photo, the Romika Citytex 121 featuring TopDry Tex waterproof construction. The TopDry Tex membrane is fully waterproof and windproof with microscopic pores to ensure that perspiration can escape. The insole is removable and the boot is roomy enough to accommodate a personal orthotic. A side zipper allows for easy-on and off. Soft suede uppers and linings provide a comfortable glove-like feel. Best fits a medium to slightly wide foot. $149.95 at OnlineShoes.com, free shipping and exchanges. $89.99 at 6pm.com, free shipping. $149.95 at Amazon, free shipping.

The Romika Citytex 122 shoe (bottom left) has all the same comfort and waterproof technologies as the 121, but with elastic goring on each side for easy on and off: $110.99 at OnlineShoes.com. The Romika Citytex 129 ankle boot (bottom right) features a waterproof fabric upper and lace-up closure with a side zipper.

We’ve reviewed other comfortable boots in the past, but I’m really warming up to this brand now. Are there other Romika shoes that you have considered or tried? Like this brand? Let us know in the comments below and stay warm!

Reviews are good so I just ordered the 121 in Black. I think that can likely be a GoTo boot in cooler weather. I traveled with a friend recently who brought a pair of Romika’s along, and I could not believe how lightweight they were.
    Thanks for this review!

Just want to report back on my Romika 121’s. Love them. Sizing is true. Very lightweight, comfortable, great cushioning and arch support, and MUCH nicer looking than I had expected. These will be great with skinnies.

Thank you for this post, Kirsten.

That’s wonderful to hear. It’s always a bonus when the shoe is better-looking in real life than online 😉

    Hi Kirsten,
I was so glad to find your blog! I just found out I have arthritis in the joints of my foot. I seriously thought I broke it. It hurts so much. Anyhow I was wondering….I’m on my feet 12 hrs a day working. At the end of my day I’m almost in tears. What kind of shoe could I get to help. My doctor told me sketchers shape ups. I tried them but it made my toes ache and my calves burn. Lol always something. Thanks for your help. Diana

  3. Lyndi says:

I just purchased my first pair or Romika shoes. Wore them all day without a problem. I have a more narrow foot, so it is difficult to find shoes. Romika is the answer. I am looking forward to purchasing a pair of boots next.

I bought a pair of Romika shoes with a platform sole, in America. They’re the only shoes with a 21/2″ heel that I can walk round Ikea for 5 hours in. Great shoes, very comfortable and attractive. Beige.
