Clark’s Purity Frost and Movie Retro Review

Clark's Purity Frost
Clark’s 2014 fall collection will make you question if the shoes are truly Clark’s. Modern lines, sculpted heels, asymmetrical zippers decry the Clark’s of old: either crepe-soled Wallabies from Clark’s UK or mary janes, lace-ups and slip-ons…oh my. This season brings the Clark’s Purity Frost pictured above; a shootie with a 3 1/4″ sculpted wedge heel, Ortholite footbed and side zipper. Initial comfort reports from online customers look promising, if you’re a heel wearer. But if you don’t do heels, I wouldn’t make these your first, as beautiful as they are. There is no platform to offload some of the pressure on the forefoot, which is natural in a 3″ heel.

The Clark’s Purity Frost is available at Amazon: $29-60 with free shipping.

Clark's Movie Retro

If you’ve tired of the basic black ankle boot, the Clark’s Movie Retro might just pique your interest again with its quilted detailing and zipper on a slant. The Movie Retro features Clark’s Plus intelligent underfoot cushioning system which enables the foot bones to sit in their most natural position. A steel shank provides lateral stability and midfoot support and a 2 1/4″ chunky heel offers a little height without compromising comfort (they come in gray too).

I had a pair of Clark’s that I returned a few years ago, after having many pair that I have loved over the years. The problem with the pair I returned, I think would be the same with the Purity Frost: the sole is sooo narrow that I had to walk in it as if it was a high heel, as opposed to a wedge. I felt very unstable in them, although they are certainly cute.

The Movie Retro is nice looking. I have a few pair of similar Clark’s booties and really love them for comfort, style, and stability.

I love the Movie Retro; does it come in wide?

    Sadly, no.
