We’ve curated a list of six stylish yet comfortable heels that won’t leave you counting the seconds until you can kick them off. Take a look…
German family-owned Ara specializes in beautiful, quality-made comfortable heels always keeping comfort at the forefront. We love the Ophelia’s classic silhouette. This almond-toe pump features soft leather or suede uppers, elasticized topline, moderate 2.5″ heel and extra cushioning at the ball of foot area. The Ara Ophelia is available in sizes 5-10.5 for $185 from Zappos, Nordstrom and Amazon. The Ara Kelly is a lower-heel classic pump with good reviews for comfort (even for bunions).
Calla shoes is the brainchild of founder Jennifer Bailey, a bunion sufferer for the last 20 years and a serial hunter of stylish shoes to wear for special occasions (read more about here story here). Calla footwear is wide in the toe box, but standard in the heel. The Ava pump is an elegant 2″ kitten heel with extra width and volume in the toe area, a cushioned footbed with arch support, and a non-slip sole. Available in sizes 5-11 for $120-200 from CallaShoes.com, free shipping and returns. We recommend consulting Calla’s measurement guide to ensure the correct fit. For additional help with sizing, contact hello@callashoes.com.
You may be wondering why we’d recommend a heel with a pointed toe. Surprisingly this particular style by CC Corso Como continues to gain more and more positive reviews from Nordstrom customers (and it’s available in extended sizes and wide widths):
These shoes are very stylish and surprisingly comfortable on my achy feet. This brand adds lots of cushioning which helps tremendously.
I know heels are a “no-no” when you’re pregnant, but I needed to slip these on for a few special occasions while I was around 8 months pregnant. I also knew I would be wearing them post-pregnancy. My feet are long and skinny (size 12 narrow normally), and these shoes are wonderful! Oftentimes my heels slip out of shoes, but the strap in the middle helps these stay on. Even though pregnancy has caused my feet to swell, I still needed the strap in the middle to help keep my foot stable in the shoe. The height isn’t too high but gives a nice lift. They appear to be well-made. While I wouldn’t want to walk on my feet for hours and hours in them, pregnant or not, they are great for occasional standing if you have an office job or need something dressy to wear to church or a party.
I’m really happy with these truly my favorite shoe – CC are extremely comfortable, and for those of us who have problems keeping on a regular pump without a back strap, these do the trick while more stylish than the standard back strap! Heel height is perfect as well! I typically wear an 8 and while these will work, they seem to run a bit long – you may want to drop down 1/2 size. I bought them in black and grey suede!
The Denice by Corso Como runs large–order down a half size for best fit. Available in sizes 5-13, narrow to wide widths for $65-129 from Nordstrom, Zappos and Amazon.
Are you a fan of the vintage-inspired Hotter Donna heel? If so, you’ll love the newly updated Hotter Amethyst in gorgeous jewel tones. We recommend the Hotter Amethyst for a wider foot or for feet that need a roomy toe box. Available in sizes 5-11 for $155 from Hotter.com, standard and wide fit.
“I am 61, have bunions and hammer toes, and can comfortably wear these since the upper is made of a woven, stretchy material. I find them very forgiving on my feet.” That’s great news from a happy Zappos customer. The Bernie Mev Chesca features a woven elastic upper, memory foam cushioned footbed, and a lightweight polyurethane outsole. Find the Bernie Mev Chesca in a variety of colors and patterns in sizes 5-11 for $79 from Zappos, Amazon, and Nordstrom.
Affordable, chic and comfortable, the Easy Spirit Crystal features a sturdy two-inch block heel, cushioned footbed and adjustable hook and loop ankle closure. Available in sizes 5-12, medium and wide widths for $49-99 from EasySpirit.com, Amazon, and Shoemall.
Kirsten,
First off, I love your blog. Thanks! I was wondering if you have ever worn Dromedaris shoes? I love the look of them, but have never tried them on and have never seen them in a store. I have Morton’s neuroma and was just wondering if they would be comfortable for me. They look comfortable, but you never know. Also, if you have tried Dromedaris shoes, where do you get them? Thanks!
Mary
Hi Mary,
I do have a pair of Dromedaris boots from PlanetShoes.com, but I don’t have any of their sandals. I know a shoe store near me carries a few styles. Here’s their store locater to see if there’s a retailer near you:https://www.dromedaris.us/shop-finder.html I think Shoebuy.com has the best selection online and although they no longer offer free returns, they do free exchanges. Their toe boxes are fairly roomy so I think they’d be good for MN.

I recently got the Clarks Okena Sass heels, and can recommend them highly. The cushioning makes them more comfortable than some flats I’ve owned.

Hello from the other side of the Atlantic π
I am searching for a BD present for my bestie, who struggles with her bunions.. Europe doesn’t have a lot to offer (except UK maybe..) but I am definitely thinking about ordering a pair overseas.
Your site helped me a lot, so please keep on the great work, cause the dogs are barking here too π
For this occasion, I really need nice dress shoes, high heel, maybe patent.. we are musicians, and on the stage few times a week. So, this brand crossed my browsing, maybe you mentioned it somewhere already, if not, hope to be helpful.. The prices are aaarrrrrr, but they really look worth it. No retailers, just thru their website.
If somebody has experience with those, please post.
Woof – woof π

I just bought a pair of Rockport Cobb Hill Taylors, and I love them. They keep my ankles stable, they have a great arch support, and the heels are cushioned rubber, not stacked wood, so they are easier on my spine. I took them dancing and they helped me last for hours. Well worth the $100.
It’s my wife’s Birthday next week and I was planning to gift her some very nice and good looking pair or Heels, I was surfing the internet and saw several blogs but was having a hard time deciding what could be best for her. I was looking for Normal Heel Shoes which are comfortable and but not more than 2″ of heel’s height and should be slip resistant as she works in a place with a slippery floor. can you suggest me any?
