6Dansko Racquel Sandal for Warm Weather Walking: Kristy’s Review
Hi everyone! I am a woman in her mid-forties who is as picky about shoes as anyone. I have hallux limitus, which basically means I have to wear a supportive shoe all of the time…no barefoot anything for me. It also means I must have arch support that allows me to walk without pain, due to the limited range of motion in my big toe. I spend most of my days on my feet taking care of kids and love to run, walk and bike.
I was so excited to try the Dansko Racquel when I saw it under the Zappos new arrivals. Dansko has always been a go-to brand for me so when I noticed these sandals were fully adjustable and had the arch support I love, I had to try them. And I was not disappointed. This sandal has a cushiony footbed and the perfect amount of arch support. I love the fun colors and how they really can be worn with so many outfits. My twin sister has the Racquel in black and loves hers as much as I love my fun pastel pair. If you have finicky feet and love sandals that you can wear all day without pain, I highly recommend the Dansko Racquel.
Thanks Kristy! We’ve been waiting for Dansko to issue a Chaco-esque sandal–you know, the kind with adjustable straps made of webbing, and a contoured footbed to support the arches. Well, here it is. Meet Racquel, new for spring/summer 2022.
The Dansko Racquel offers the support of your favorite sneaker with its performance outsole, shock-absorbing EVA midsole and supportive footbed with enhanced arch support. A mild rocker forefoot assists in propelling the foot forward through the stride–which is a good feeling if you suffer from metatarsalgia, hallux rigidus and other forefoot conditions.
The recycled webbing straps are adjustable at three points with hook and loop (velcro) closures.
Initial reviews are positive for fit and feel. A happy Zappos customer says this about her new Dansko Racquels:
I ordered 9 (!) pairs of sandals from various places, and these were the winners! Bought for music festivals and touring Europe (lots of walking and standing). Super comfortable, supportive, and great cushioning.
The Dansko Racquel is available in five colors, euro sizes 36-42 (5.5-11.5) for $110 from Dansko.com, Amazon, and Zappos.
Thanks so much for this review. I’m about to vacation in a warmer climate, and wanted a sandal that would be good for my Hallux limits and bunion & was good for walking. This review came at just the right time. The gray and white color is pretty and they seem comfy out of the box. I very much appreciate the website.
Updated comment- I wore them on the vacation I mentioned in my March 8th comment. While they were very comfy, the straps wouldn’t stay closed. I was constantly adjusting them and trying to get them to stay closed.

I have these sandals and they are so comfortable, with good arch support. I did not have any issues with the straps, so perhaps Julie got a bad set. I can wear them all day, plus they look very nice with many different outfits.
I really enjoy your newsletters but would like to see more shoes with wide options.
I had surgery last year to fuse my right first MTP joint due to hallux rigidus, and have no pain 🙂 but very few shoe choices now. I had a wide forefoot to begin with and now it’s even wider. So – Dansko clogs in Wide work for me, plus Merrill men’s Wide hiking shoes, and Hoka Bondi men’s wide sneakers.
I have 2 pairs of the Dansko Raquel sandals and basically live in them (plus my Birk sandals) in warm weather – since the straps are adjustable the width isn’t a problem. Dansko also makes some dressier sandals with adjustable straps.
Now if I could only find some non-clog shoes in wide with a closed toe (that look decent….)
