4 Dress Shoes that Accommodate Orthotics

Hello – I am SO glad I have found your blog. I am a 39 year old woman who strives to look stylish and appropriate for my professional office environment. About a year ago I was told by my podiatrist that my arches are abnormally high and I was fitted with custom orthotics. Since wearing the orthotics my foot pain has decreased, but so have my foot wearing options! Can you recommend any stylish shoes for the office as well as date night with the hubby that also accommodate custom orthotics? I have scoured the web, and all I have been able to come up with are Vionic Chloe Comfort Wedge by Orthaheel. I have looked back into the archives on your site and have found a couple of suggestions but most of the shoes are no longer available. Any updates? Thank you so much for your time and consideration.  Jennifer

Happy New Year, Jennifer, and all fussy-footed readers,

Yes, in fact, I do have updates and I hope you like them. Take a look at these stylish, yet comfortable shoes with removable insoles. Now, I’m not promising your particular custom orthotic will fit seamlessly into each one–it may be a hit or miss type shopping experience to find that perfect pair, but take advantage of those free returns! I did try to keep in mind that you need something office-appropriate, but will throw in a few sassier numbers in a future post.

Dansko olivia (1)

Dansko Olivia: A simple yet sophisticated smoking slipper profile with a removable footbed to accommodate an orthotic. You may want to order up if between sizes for a little extra room. $145 at Zappos, $48-145 at Amazon, both with free shipping and returns. Update 9/2015: See the updated Dansko Olena.

Wolky Ballet

Wolky Ballet: A great style if you have bunions as the vamp doesn’t cut across them. While the Wolky Ballet comes with a very supportive and contoured cork and latex footbed, it is completely removable to allow for a custom orthotic. Available in many colors from neutrals to patterns. $69-184 at Amazon, with free shipping and returns.

Munro American Ashlie

Munro American Ashlie: Here’s a classy slip-on with a 1/2″ hidden wedge heel. The cushioned footbed is removable accommodating an insert or orthotic. Munro specializes in good fit offering sizes 4-13 and five widths. $195 at Zappos and Nordstrom, free shipping and returns. Update 9/2015: The Ashlie is on its way out, check out the newer Brandi for similar style and fit.

Here Here! I love my Ziera shoes and the customer support is incredible. I’ve emailed them a couple of times asking about shoes which are from their previous collections and they’ve happily told me which stores still stock my size.

Shoes You Love is a footwear retailer that has been in this industry for many years. It mainly sells Ziera Shoes, a footwear brand that has 60 years of experience in measuring, manufacturing footwear.
