I’ve ordered both the Simone and the Rumson. Unfortunately, both had to go back even though they are both beautiful.
Simone’s straps were not long enough to stay buckled on my super high instep even without my orthotics. And incidentally, the burgundy is actually a true cool toned red.
Rumsons strap hits right on my bunion.
I was so disappointed because both are lovely, quality shoes.

    Hi Loretta,

We always appreciate “on-the-foot” reviews as we can’t try them all! Thank you for your honest input.

  3. Reb says:

Aetrex Simone comes so close…I’ve got wide toes, a narrow heel, and generally achy dogs and thus I have a closet full of black pumps that I can barely walk to the door in, no less go out into the city streets. The Aetrex Simone (I have the black) was a game changer. I don’t particularly trust the velvet in terms of long term wear and tear, BUT the shoe looks stunning on, has a very roomy toe box, some decent arch support, and — miracle of miracles — a narrow enough heel. The footbed is nowhere near as cushy as the Aetrex Mia or Aetrex wedge sandals (Arielle, etc…) but that’s okay with me because they NEVER hurt, pinch, or crowd my toes and I can wear them in a conservative business setting (in black, they look like suede, really). However, one major problem — the Mary Jane straps, while visually lovely and functionally important for keeping your foot in the shoe, are so narrow that the hook and loop closure doesn’t have enough surface area to reliably stick. It wasn’t a problem for the first several wears, but last week a strap opened and one shoe flew off my foot as I was hurrying down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. I’m hoping a good cobbler will have a magic solution.

  4. Lagatta de Montréal says:

Reb, thanks, I also have “duck feet”, as an undiplomatic and ditched consort advised me, and there are very few shoes for this foot type. I love Mary Janes, but the straps must be long enough.
