8 Luxurious Velvet Shoes Keep You On Trend and Comfortable

When I first started to notice velvet shoes appearing in stores, I thought they were fun and pretty – and also that they’d be out of style in a heartbeat.  I was right about them being pretty (and apparently a lot of other people think so too), but I was totally wrong about them being a short-lived fad.  Velvet shoes have remained in style for several seasons and just seem to be getting more popular.  If you’re thinking of adding a pair of velvet shoes to your wardrobe but have finicky feet, we’ve gathered a group of good options for fit and comfort.  We’re firm believers that you shouldn’t have to suffer to be stylish!  Check out our finds – there’s sure to be a style that works for you.

Velvet Shoes : Cole Haan Tali Bow

Cole Haan Tali Bow

Hundreds of five-star reviews can’t be wrong – even wearers with bunions and wide feet rave about the lovely Cole Haan Tali Bow ballet flat.  A micro wedge heel and good cushioning add extra comfort, and some reviewers say there’s room to add an orthotic if you need extra support.  The Cole Haan Tali Bow is known to run small, so consider ordering 1/2 size up.  Available in 3 widths (and the elusive size 10 1/2) from Zappos, Amazon, and Nordstrom.

Velvet Shoes : TOMS Ella

TOMS Ella

The TOMS Ella is a modern take on the classic chelsea boot. Side elastic gore panels mean easy on and off – no fussing with laces or buckles.  A durable rubber outsole provides traction and stability, and the cushioned comfort insole features odor-fighting protection for fresher feet.  Our favorite thing about TOMS? For every pair of shoes you purchase, TOMS will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need. Find the TOMS Ella at Toms.com,  Zappos, Nordstrom, and Amazon.

Velvet Shoes : Vionic Midi

Vionic Midi

If you love slip-on sneakers but need arch support, the Vionic Midi Velvet is the shoe for you. The perforated leather version of this shoe was one of our summer favorites (see our review here), and we’re thrilled to see this luxe velvet style appear for the cooler seasons.  Vionic gets raves from wearers with plantar fasciitis, fallen arches, and others who need substantial support.  We also love the sleek profile of the Vionic Midi compared to many other slip-on sneakers.  Available from Zappos.

Velvet Shoes : VanEli Zeda

Have narrow, wide, or larger-than-average feet?  Check out the VanEli Zeda bootie, which is available in sizes 5- 12 (including hard-to-find 10 1/2)  in narrow, medium and wide widths.  They’re relatively new so not many reviews are in, but the cushioned footbed, flexible rubber sole and rounded-toe styling all bode well for comfort.   The VanEli Zeda is available from Zappos and Amazon.

Velvet Shoes : Timberland 6" Boot

Timberland 6″ boots are iconic for good reason – they’re durable, warm, comfortable, waterproof, and never go out of style.  These work horses become fashion statements in this new version featuring gorgeous colors and lovely velvet cuffs and laces.  They have light cushioning and a removable footbed, so you can use your own orthotic. Find Timberland velvet cuff boots at Zappos and Shoes.com.

Velvet Shoes : Naturalizer Erica

Naturalizer Erica

Like flats but have trouble keeping them on your feet? Problem solved, thanks to the cute mary jane strap of the Naturalizer Erica. This sweet shoe is comfortable too, since it features Naturalizer’s signature N5 Contour Technology in the footbed, a non-slip outsole and practical 1/2″ heel.  Available in sizes 4-12 in narrow, medium and wide widths from Nordstrom and Naturalizer.com.

Velvet Shoes : FitFlop Superskate Velvet Mule

FitFlop Superskate Velvet Mule

The FitFlop Superskate in velvet combines sleek style with a bit of skater attitude. FitFlop has become a go-to comfort brand for many, thanks to their biomechanically engineered, ergonomic footbeds.  The FitFlop Superskate also features a patented SupercomFF™ dual-density, ergonomic, and pressure-diffusing midsole which provides support and comfort.  The insole is removable to accommodate orthotics. The FitFlop Superskate velvet is available in both mule (shown) and slip-on styles at Fitflop.comZappos and Amazon.

Lately readers have requested comfortable dress-casual walking shoe. We’re thrilled to feature the Bzees Capri in pink crushed velvet–so festive and foot-friendly! Stretch uppers accommodate bunions and hammertoes, while microcellular air bubbles infused into the outsoles provide superior cushioning and shock-absorption. A removable footbed with arch support adds to the all-day comfort of the Bzees Capri. Available in medium and wide widths from Naturalizer.com, Nordstrom, and Shoemall.

The Rieker 53770 Doris 70 is another beautiful shoe. I had it in black, and it did seem to be velvet, but not sure. It is super cushioned but the toe was slightly narrow for me, so I sadly returned them.
I’ve been eyeing the CH Tali, so you made me order the blue velvet. I hope I love them. Also ordered my first FitFlops……black velvet superskate, and black Sparkly Superloafer. Thank you for this post.
