Joanne, a loyal Barking Dog Shoes fan, kindly submitted a review for her favorite Ecco Booties, the Soft 7. We think you’ll appreciate her detailed observations.

Ecco Soft 7 booties

I went to The Walking Company to get one or two new fall shoes and the woman helping me was wearing the Ecco booties pictured above (Ecco Soft 7 bootie) in bordeaux suede. I noticed them right away – they are so cute! She told me they had taken her some time to break in but were very comfortable. So of course I tried them on right away.

I normally take a 7 (sometimes a 7-1/2) in a closed toe shoe and tried on the Ecco in size 38, which was perfect. I tried both the black and bordeaux cow nubuck but that burgundy color, which happens to be my favorite, was irresistible. It really shows off the cute side zip and the little gold tag at the back. It also is a darker shade of plum, more purple than red. It goes with all the plum and burgundy clothes that are in the stores right now.

The fit is relaxed but supportive. The toe box is plenty roomy, which makes my moderate bunions and one hammertoe very happy. The bootie material is a soft almost suede-like nubuck. Which means my hammertoe, which barely grazes the top of the shoes, is not squeezed or rubbed. The heel does not slip so they appear to be perfect for my duck feet. The insole is removable but there is plenty of good padding so I felt no need to pop in custom orthotics. The side zipper makes it very easy to get them on and off.

They are very light on my feet and easy to wear. I have worn them now two full days in a row with no break-in needed at all. No rubbing, no blisters and none of that cramping feeling I sometimes get with new closed toe shoes.

I have been wearing the Eccos with Smartwool no show socks and they are the perfect pair for these booties.

Best of all they are so stinking cute! They look great paired with leggings, skinny pants or ankle pants. I plan to use these as my airplane shoes since they are roomy enough that any in flight swelling will not cause any discomfort. My bottom line – I love them!

Ecco Soft 7 low booties are available in euro sizes 35-43 (4-12), eight colors for $113-170 from Zappos, Amazon and Nordstrom.
