Yoga Toes suddenly reduces foot pain? 807 reviews on Amazon!

Ever heard of Yoga Toes? Yesterday’s Wall Street Journal had a quick little article about some methods and solutions to defeat foot pain – specifically talking about toe stretches and a product for feet called Yoga Toes. The device, on the market for the past 4 years, helps stretch out your toes and eases some forms of foot pain like hammertoes and Morton’s neuroma.

As the article revealed, “Physicians say toe-stretching appears to help with a wide variety of foot pain, but add that it will be most effective when used along with strengthening exercises. Scientific evidence is scant, but a small study presented at a scientific meeting in 2012 found that toe-stretching with YogaToes, from FenF LLC, Dexter, Mich., eased painful muscle contractions in the foot in patients with Parkinson’s disease.”

Read more here at the Wall Street Journal to see what the reviewer had to say about the effectiveness of certain Yoga-type stretches and the impact of Yoga Toes after she wore them for a week.

Amazon has them on sale for $29.95, with 807 mostly-positive reviews.

Have any of you tried these Yoga Toes at home? Is this a real solution, or somewhat of a gimmick? Let us know in the comments below!

I don’t have Parkinsons so I can’t comment on that but I do have a bunion and purchased a set of these. I don’t find that they do much. There is a website by a podiatrist that suggests just putting your fingers between your toes from the top of the foot and wiggle them. I find that feels much better than the Yoga toes. You can’t walk in the Yoga Toes and they aren’t the easiest to put on. I spritz my feet with water to get them on. I find the foot with the bunion hardest to get on as the separators are wider than my toes. I’d like to try the socks with separators, they look more comfortable and forgiving. Anyway that is my experience.

Hi Kirsten. I’ve had a different brand but same idea and they do improve the pain in my feet most especially if I’ve been in sneakers or boots etc for many hours. Thank you for all of the tips and product info…
    Regards- PV

  3. Amanda says:

I use a similar product called Correct Toes. I love them! I don’t really believe they correct serious foot problems as they claim, but it really helps my Morton’s Neuroma.

  4. Sue E. says:

Yes, I tried these a couple of years ago to help alleviate my plantar fasciitis pain. It was a waste of $30 or whatever I paid for them at the time. They were totally uncomfortable to me as well. I threw them out. I suppose you could use them when you’re giving yourself a pedicure!

  5. Laurae says:

I use a different brand of to stretchers and absolutely love them! I wear these at night when I am watching TV or reading. Feels great to stretch the foot in this way.

  6. wendy says:

I have a neuroma (but not a Morton’s neuroma) in one foot, which has also suffered two ankle sprains and a torn calf muscle. I find that these do actually help sometimes. The best help is when I remember to do my PT exercises, but if my foot is really achy, stretching them with these does offer some temporary relief.

  7. Jennifer Marden says:

Second vote for Correct Toes. I have Hallux Limitus and find Correct Toes makes walking less painful. Not a miracle cure, but helpful.

  8. Bette says:

I recommend Correct Toes, invented and marketed by a Portland podiatrist and athlete, Dr Ray McClanahan. His videos have been lifesaving for me — he teaches stretches, treatments, explains Correct Toes and alignment, and provides a wealth of information on shoes. Here’s a link to all his videos (and no, I’m not affiliated!):

    Hi Bette,

Once again, thank you for leaving a helpful comment. Often readers learn more through the comments than the post.

  10. JJ says:

I purchased a less expensive version of these at WalMart many years ago and utilized them most after working my long night shifts (3 per week) as a Registered Nurse. They do help somewhat with the pain but after having been diagnosed with a Morton’s Neuroma in both feet, only daily icing and cortisone shots have been the most effective. They are great for stretching the toes but it doesn’t do much considering the majority of women wear shoes that do not have enough room in the toe box.

  11. Kristen says:

I have had them for a few years and use them frequently. As my toes do tend to curl up after the beating they get from my severe pronating, Yoga Toes does provide relief and helps my toes uncurl a little. It’s not a cure, but it doesn’t make anything worse.

  12. M Pamela says:

Kristen, I bought yoga toes about five years ago and for me, I love them… After walking or when I have a moment of peace and quiet, like at bedtime, I wear these and wow, my toes feel great…they get the gentle stretching that I need and help keep my spacing between toes stretched out. When I teach my yoga class, I do yoga toes by having the participants place their fingers between the toes..: it is totall worth getting the yoga toes!!

  13. Kirsten Borrink says:

I don’t even have a pair yet, but I tried the socks with separators and couldn’t tolerate them! But as I sit and work on BDS with my feet up on the ottoman, I think the yoga toes would feel pretty darn good.

  14. M Pamela says:

It may take some getting used to!

  15. M Pamela says:

Hi I just found a place near me that sells these so I am going to pay them a visit and try them out! Will let you know how they are in comparision to my yoga toes that I have…while I know that the yoga toes aren’t a “fix” to the problems I have, the relief and the gentle stretching helps my toes feel good, like yoga does to my body…

  16. Kirsten Borrink says:

So I go into see the podiatrist today and he takes one look at my bunions and hammertoes (thanks, RA) and says, “I have two words for you. YOGA TOES.” I’ll get a pair and report back…

  17. Pam says:

I just bought a pair from Joy-A-Toes in size large, and I love them! I have Morton’s Neuroma, and after wearing these for about 30 min spaced out over the day it has REALLY helped my foot pain. I have a cortisone shot in my neuroma which helps a lot, but my feet were always really stiff and after a night in bed, sometimes hard to bend. I’ve only had these for a week but my stiff feet are gone. Highly recommend for those with neuromas!

  18. Jennifer G. Miller says:

I found YogaToes to be helpful with my severe flat feet and pronation and sesamoid pain. I could only wear them for shorter periods of time. Wearing them to bed didn’t work well, because they would hurt after a while, and also the gel material didn’t move on the sheets, so it was uncomfortable. But I kept trying to expand the time and sleep longer with them.

Don’t even try to put them on without moistening them. Very painful and almost impossible.

  19. M Pamela says:

Jennifer I don’t think you’re supposed to wear them to bed…it takes some getting used to, especially if he spacing between toes are tight…

  20. M Pamela says:

I just got my Correct Toes that I found from Bette mentioning above, and I have to agree with her that these are amazing! The yoga toes I have had for years must have prepared me for Correct Toes, as you are to use CT slowly…I didn’t have any pain or difficulty or anything adjusting to Correct Toes! Furthermore, with a wide toe box, you can walk with CT, as stated in the instructional booklet that comes with CT. I have a pair of LEMS sneakers that I walk with these…just short distances for now…wow…just check out the website, Correcttoes.com, and also watch the doctor’s videos as well…excellent stretching…

  21. pam woller says:

i have hallux limitus also and got the correct toes a few years ago. i mostly wear Altas now because i wear my correct toes as often as possible. i am an avid hiker and i would not be able to hike any distance at all without them. They even returned some of the mobility to my big toe! i don’t think they will cure the problem since i already have the bone growth but they definitely help. i am looking for winter shoes that are more “normal”–boots and dressier shoes i can wear for special occasions. i have just about decided that i will not be able to wear the correct toes with any shoes like that but i am still looking. Thanks for all the reviews and the shoe recommendations. i am slowly working my way through them. i will let you know if i am successful.
