Comfortable Sandals

L’Amour Des Pieds Shoes | Modern, Stylish, Oh-So Comfortable

There’s a new comfort-meets-style brand in the game, and we’ve got the scoop. L’Amour des Pieds (the love of feet) caught our attention last fall with gorgeous wedge styles in rich jewel-tones like the peep-toe Oraine and closed-toe Orva wedge, but their spring collection takes the cake! I am thrilled to review the L’Amour des Pieds Adelais platform wedge.

A bit about the brand…

L’Amour des Pieds entered the scene two years ago with a focus on cutting-edge style while incorporating a patent-pending adaptable memory foam arch support designed to expand and contract with the contours of your feet. Other comfort features include full sheep nappa lining added for breathability, and lightweight shock-absorbing EVA outsoles.

I reached out to the L’Amour des Pieds and they graciously sent me the Adelais platform sandal for review. I don’t consider myself a fashionista but when I wear my Adelais sandals, I’m about as close as I’ll get. It’s the perfect spring sandal for my problem feet for multiple reasons:

  • The arch support is just the right amount for a fashion sandal–somewhere between the aggressive arch of Vionic and the little arch cookies (foam inserts) you might find in a Born sandal. It’s soft yet supportive and hits my arch at the right place, not too far forward or too far back.
  • The rest of the footbed is fully cushioned with memory foam.
  • The shape of the shoe fits the shape of my foot. The vamp covers the bunion area with soft nubuck leather–no pressure points, no irritation.
  • The 1.5″ heel with .75″ platform provides height without the uncomfortable feeling of having my toes squished into the toe box. Plus, the thick EVA outsole works well with my hallux limitus (big toe arthritis), protecting my toe from bending too much causing pain.
  • The straps don’t dig into my foot. They are secure but not tight. I hope they continue to keep their elasticity as that’s what keeps the shoe on–no buckles or velcro straps.
  • The outsole is incredibly lightweight and gives me a little spring to my step. To keep the white sole looking bright, my friend and co-worker Beth recommends using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge.
  • The peep-toe is small enough to show just a little bit of big toe and second toe (even if they’re not quite spring-ready).

L’Amour des Pieds Adelais

I chose the beige nubuck because it’s versatile and pairs nicely with this season’s blush and rose tones. I would recommend the L’Amour des Pieds Adelais for slightly narrow to medium widths. The Adelais is available in 5 colors, whole and half sizes 5.5-10,11 from, Zappos, and Nordstrom with free shipping (I ordered a size 10 for my sometimes 9.5, often 10 medium width foot). Subscribe to their newsletter and receive 10% off your first full-price order!

I have to give a shout out to TJ Maxx for the rest of the outfit!

  • Sleeveless dress by Philosophy: I just picked this up a few days ago so I’m sure it’s still on the rack at your TJ Maxx. It’s blush-beige with gray diagonal pattern. A similar dress can be found online.
  • My clutch was only $10! It’s blush leather with fun cut-outs and studs. Find a similar one here.

Super cute! I may have to stop following you because you post so many good things I want to buy!

Question: did you walk much in them? If so, what’d you think?

  2. Kirsten Borrink says:

I haven’t done a long walk, but wore them to church (BIG church) and walked all over the place. No pressure points, irritation and shoe stay put. Seriously, they’re so lightweight. I feel the platform EVA wedge works sort of like a rocker sole taking pressure off forefoot.

  3. Kirsten Borrink says:

And I get it about unfollowing. The reason I can’t go window shopping….

  4. Karen says:

What size did you get? Your sizing descriptions are spot on! Also, do any U.S. stores carry these, to your knowledge?

  5. Kirsten Borrink says:

AH! I forgot to say in the review, I’ll go back and edit. But for now, a size 10 and you can tell from the photo it fits to a tee

  6. Nancy says:

    Several questions:

    do they have removable insoles?

Can they be purchased/tried on at any stores?

If the arch support in most Munro shoes are a 8-9 on a scale of 1-10, where would the arch support fall in this brand?

    Thank you

  7. Kirsten Borrink says:

I asked Libbi at L’Amour des Pieds and she says as of now, no removable insoles in any styles, but it’s something they’re discussing. I know Nordstrom carries a smaller selection as does Dillards, and a few independent high end shoe stores.

  8. Patti Hall says:

I have a pair of this brand I bought last year and love them! Mine are the Bane in the metallic silver. When I wear them, people always ask me where I got them. I have worn them several times where I was really on my feet and they carried me through. I highly recommend them!

  9. Kirsten Borrink says:

And where DID you get them? Did you find in a store or did you buy online?

  10. Laura says:

I tried these in two sizes, my typical size which is an 8.5 and a half size
larger, the 9. Both sizes were too loose for my feet. Since they secure only with elastic there is no way to easily tighten them and I didn’t want to mess around with remaking them. They definitely are well constructed and have great potential for comfort but I think they work best on a very high volume foot. I thought I had high volume feet, because I have high arches and a high instep, and I have some chronic residual swelling from a foot injury, but I need these to be snugger on my foot for security, and if I go smaller, the footbed would become too short.

  11. Linda says:

Hi, I usually wear a 9 or 9.5 depending. Should I order these in the 9? i have mortons neuroma as well that’s being managed at the moment. Do you think these are okay to wear? Seems like it to me….

  12. Kirsten Borrink says:

I think you’d like them. I wore mine again today and loved how soft the uppers are–I don’t have MN but have bunions and hammertoes and no problem at all. I wear a 10 usually and sometimes 9.5 and got the 10–fits perfectly. I thin you should go with the 9 since you don’t want them slipping off.

  13. helene strumeyer says:

I have wide feet. Do you think these will work for me?

  14. Kirsten Borrink says:

The ones with adjustable straps should work, but order from Nordstrom if you do since they have free returns 🙂

  15. Judy says:

Do these shoes have a firm sole— I have Hallus limitus/rigidus and wondered how these shoes will do

  16. Kirsten Borrink says:

Yes!I have same problem but not in these shoes 🙂

  17. Laurel says:

Do these shoes have wide deep toe boxes? I have hammer toes. In winter it it so hard for me to find shoes to wear. Please help me. !!!!

  18. Danna says:

Where are they made? Most sites just use the word “imported.”

  19. Kirsten Borrink says:

I just asked my contact at LDP. She said New York and China. I was bummed because I was hoping she’d say France…

  20. Maura says:

I have bunions, flat feet and arthritic knees. Brenn is a wonder. They are so comfortable that I forget they are on. Just bought another pair in cognac because good comfortable shoes that fit me are so very hard to find. In addition, this brand offers great style.

  21. susan nave says:

This may seem like a silly question, but is Brenn a brand or another style of the brand Kirsten refers to in this post? I have similar foot issues as you, but also mid-foot pain d/f arthritis. 🙁
